Hello All, I haven’t done this for a while so I am a bit rusty.  Friday Fictioneers is a group of people who write a piece of fiction in around 100 words based on a photo prompt. The group is hosted byRochelle Wissoff-Fields and you are cordially invited to read, and comment and join in too if you feel like having a go! You can find the story beneath the photo

The Winning Ticket (100 words)

Eric paused, knees trembling, fingers clinging feebly to the slender access ladder. Above him, Stephan’s disembodied legs vanished from view. Somewhere up there, just out of sight they were waiting.

He shuddered, forcing himself upward while the ladder bounced and creaked beneath every torturous step. Below him was love, life and the familiar touch and smell of a life now passed.

He cursed for the umpteenth time: Why did I have to get all six numbers?

The air hummed and crackled and his ears popped painfully as he stepped off the ladder.

Out of the gloom ahead a figure approached.

    • Hi Janet, that’s really nice of you. To tell you the truth life has just got in the way a bit lately and by the time I have finished for the day I haven’t got much left. I am working hard to make a permanent change in my life that will give me the time to get back to my writing on a more regular basis. I miss you all and I am grateful to hear from you. Take care, James
